Jim Stanton

Jim was born, raised, and educated in and around Cleveland, Ohio, where he was actively involved in both music and athletics throughout his school years. He played football and wrestled at an inner-city Cleveland public high school and later earned a varsity letter playing football at Case Western Reserve University while pursuing his undergraduate studies.

Continuing his education in the Cleveland area, Jim earned both an MBA and a law degree, accomplishments that helped shape his successful professional career. Upon completing his studies, he sought a fresh start and relocated to Dallas, Texas. He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney, where he brought 82 jury trials to verdict in just three years while representing victims across a broad range of criminal cases.

Jim later transitioned into civil litigation, dedicating the remainder of his legal career to representing trucking and construction companies in catastrophic injury and liability cases throughout Texas. For the final 22 years of his practice, he had the privilege of owning and managing his own law firm.

Since retiring in 2018, Jim has embraced life in the Bay Area and remains deeply committed to community service. He actively volunteers with organizations such as Halleck Creek Ranch, which provides therapeutic horseback riding opportunities for individuals with physical, emotional, and developmental challenges, and Blue Water Foundation, which offers sailing experiences and mentorship opportunities for youth, including incarcerated and underserved students.

Jim has also collaborated with Bay Area organizations to help send students to an annual Italian music festival near Lake Como. Through one of these scholarship partnerships, former San Francisco Police Activities League cadet Wilson Lu received full financial support for his education at San Francisco State University. Wilson is graduating in the Spring with a four year degree and a minimal amount of student loan debt – an accomplishment Jim is especially proud to have supported.
