Dennis Brown

A second-round pick and Goldrush Rookie of the Year for the San Francisco 49ers in 1990, Dennis Brown played defensive end for seven seasons with the team, which included their 1995 Superbowl XXIX Championship win. That same year, his teammates named him the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award, a prestigious honor recognizing his commitment to the principals of sportsmanship and courage, through the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation in support of children’s causes. Prior to his professional career, Brown was a legendary defensive lineman and alumnus of Long Beach Jordan High School and the University of Washington. Following his retirement from the NFL, Dennis has been active with the 49ers in a non-playing capacity, he is an eight-time winner of the 49ers’ Community Relations Alumni Service Award, serves as an Ambassador for the NFL’s USA Heads Up Football, Alumni Representative and a active member of the Northern California Chapter of the NFL Alumni Association Bay Area Multi-Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame class 2018. He also understands the importance of giving back to the community and serves as a spokesperson for various nonprofits, including MidPen Resident Services, Center for Open Recovery SF, LifeMoves Shelter Network sat on the board of the San Mateo Police Athletic League ( PAL) 4years, Bayview YMCA & 49ers Youth Football Camps. Currently Working in the 49ers Alumni department and Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area as an on-air analyst at CSN Bay Area & CSN California, and a 10 year resident of San Mateo, living now in the Portola the last two years.
