Rick Bruce (Ret. Captain) is presented with an award from London Breed (Board of Supervisors) for his years of continued dedication and service to the community through coordinating programs for youth with SFPAL. Congratulations Rick!

On Sunday, May 7th, 2017, SFPAL and Rec & Park hosted its 2nd Annual Kids’ Games at Kezar Stadium. It was a beautiful sunny day filled with lots of smiles from over 350 kids from San Francisco who participated in track & field events. The kids amazed us with their athletic prowess while competing for ribbons and medals in the 50m, 100m, and 200m trials. Everyone had an amazing time watching these kids tear through the track. A special thank you goes out to the 257th SFPD Recruit Class who coordinated the track and field events. The day would not have gone as well as it did without their efforts. Another special thanks goes out to the following sponsors for providing the food, BBQ skills, snacks, and hydration for the kids during the event:
Evergood Fine Foods, Canyon Riders BBQ, Kashi Bars, and A Runner’s Mind. Also a special thank you goes out to Rick Bruce (Ret. Captain), Cmdr. Lazar (Community Engagement Division), Capt. John Sanford (Park Station), Capt. Denise Flaherty (Taraval Station), and Chief Will Scott for lending nearly two dozen officers to support the event. It was an exciting day to be a kid. As Capt. Sanford once said “If you could see their faces…”

SFPD 257th Recruit Class. Thanks for all of your help with the Kids’ Games at Kezar!
