On June 9, 2016 Aaron & Matthew Jimenez; better know as double trouble, of SF PAL’s Judo Program were recognized by Sensei Bill Wong for academic excellence. Not only do the Jimenez brothers excel in judo, but they also excel in academics. Both achieving straight A’s in school. Congratulations to both of you. You are an example to your fellow classmates. Continue to develop your mind, body, and soul. We are very proud of both of you.
On June 3, 2016 Cadet Sergeant Samantha Morales graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy. The graduation ceremony was held at the magnificent St. Mary’s Cathedral. Samantha will be continuing her education at Holy Name University located in Oakland, California. Samantha wants to pursue a career in law enforcement. We are all very proud of Samantha and wish her the very best in her future endeavors.
Also graduating from I.C.A. in the same class as Samantha is a newly accepted PAL Cadet; Nely Rodriguez. We look forward to seeing Nely in our up coming Summer Cadet Academy Class starting June 13th. Congratulations Nely! Welcome to the SF PAL Cadet Program.
On Thursday, June 2, 2016 SF PAL hosted its annual Golf Tournament and Fundraiser at Sharp Park Golf Course located in Pacifica, California. The golf course, designed by Allister Mackenzie, boasts spectacular views of the California coastline and is considered one of the most scenic locations which hosts a challenging golf course. It was a great day for competition, but more so it was a great day to support SF PAL and its many programs. A group of over eighty golfers took on the course and posted some great scores. The tournament was won by a contingent from Tenderloin Station; Daniel Faulkner, Patrick Machi, Kevin Nestor, and Michael White, who posted a score of 60. Their names will appear on the perpetual PAL Golf Trophy and the trophy will be displayed at the Police Officers’ Association building in San Francisco. The day was a huge success in raising funds for PAL’s youth programs. Thank you to all of our players, donors, and sponsors for supporting PAL. We would also like to give a special thank you Eric Farber of Pacific Worker’s Compensation – Farber & Company Attorneys for sponsoring the Harley Davidson and four Nike gift cards (valued at $250/each) for the tournament. Unfortunately no one made a hole-in-one to win the Harley Davidson, but there is always next year. We would also like to thank executive chef Kevin Ramsey of Sharp Park for being a very gracious host. Hope to see all of you next year. To view photos from the event, please click here!
